I started this blog in 2014, intending to try and post a new black and white image twice a week. Unfortunately, my circumstances changed considerably, and the whole project ground to a halt.
I am hoping that during 2017 I will be able to begin to add to this project, and maybe add more albums to the galleries too.
I appreciate that the aim should be to post all NEW images, but in some cases that will not be possible to do, due to other commitments. This explains why I will be using some images from my archives.

It was a lovely evening yesterday, and a little cooler than it had been during the daytime, so we went for a drive in Derbyshire.
I was hoping for some golden hour images, maybe a sunset sky - but no! I should have known that whenever I try to do that it gets misty in the valleys so useless for the shots I wanted. I was a little surprised how much of the haze disappeared when I tried a few shots with the new IR conversion. Again I was using the 850nm filter on full spectrum conversion.

Here is the first result from my Lumix TZ30 which was converted to full spectrum by KolariVision. I used an 850nm filter and did very little processing.
The results are sharp and punchy, and I am very pleased with the quality.
If you are interested in any kind of infrared conversions I highly recommend this company - check them out here: www.kolarivision.com
I did take a colour image by adding a hot mirror filter, and got a reasonable colour image, a little fringing but it is only a compact camera!
You can view this on my other site, not wanting to put too many colour images on this blog..... colour image here

I have not made any progress with the main computer, here is one I played with today.

Still not fixed the computer, so having brought all my software up to date on my older laptop I have managed some processing of older images. It takes ten times as long (or it feels like that!) so not getting a lot done. I've put a small album in the Galleries section from a small museum in North Yorkshire. Sadly, I was not allowed to take many shots before I got told it was against their rules! Needless to say I will not be going back unless they change the rules.
Here is a sample from the album.

I have major computer problems, which will prevent me from posting to this blog for a while. Not sure how long it will take to get the machine up and running, then there will be a lot of software installing to deal with
I'm posting three quite different images from my archives, using my husbands' computer (which does not have the necessary software to produce any more images, unfortunately)
First we have a train image, at Goatland Station, North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Here is an infrared landscape taken at Lyme Hall, using a converted Canon EOS 30D.
Finally, an abstract composition from The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port.

OK, so I missed out last week on posting to this blog, but I did actually get out and shoot! Processing time has been scarce, but better late than never? This one is five bracketed shots combined in Photomatix Pro, then converted to black and white in CS6 using Silver Efex Pro 2.
As an extra image, here is an infrared result of Whitby Abbey, North Yorkshire. Taken some time ago with a Canon EOD 30D, converted for IR use.

Due to the lack of any photo opportunities this weekend, I have raided the archives for this one.
Here we have a young woman volunteer on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway coupling up - while a strong man watches! There is another female volunteer on this railway who I've seen progress from fireman to driver. No doubt she will feature at some point, when I have nothing new to post.

The weather this week has not been encouraging for photography, and if you take a look out of my kitchen window you will understand!
As there is no prospect of anything better tomorrow, I ventured out to a local green space. I have been meaning to get a shot of this beautifully carved owl for a long time, so that is now crossed off my list of 'local things to shoot'!! I wasn't very happy with the result, but having spent some time on it (and got wet!) I'm showing it anyway.

Here is the first post on this blog! I'm hoping to stick with it and post each weekend plus a mid-week image when I can.
This is 60163 Tornado pictured at Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
