Nothing much changes around here .....

Although my computer problems seem to be resolved for the moment, other circumstances mean I am unlikely to be able to get this blog back on track.

I have been playing today with a prototype of a Topaz plugin, currently named 'Impressions'. Not even at the beta testing stage, so plenty of bugs to iron out! It is intended for the creation of art starting from a digital image. As I have absolutely NO real artistic talent it is of great interest to me.

I have worked on three different images so far, and the colour versions are shown in a new gallery on here. The two monochrome versions of this favourite of mine are shown here as well ... they are at least black and white if not new images!

I started with the oil painting preset and after tweaking desaturated the image. I then tweaked a charcoal preset to get this result.

This version started from the sketch preset, vignette added in Photo Effects 8 in OnOne Perfect PhotoSuite 8.5

Easter is over but ......

I have not made any progress with the main computer,  here is one I played with today.

Computer update!

Still not fixed the computer, so having brought all my software up to date on my older laptop I have managed some processing of older images. It takes ten times as long (or it feels like that!) so not getting a lot done. I've put a small album in the Galleries section from a small museum in North Yorkshire. Sadly, I was not allowed to take many shots before I got told it was against their rules! Needless to say I will not be going back unless they change the rules.

Here is a sample from the album.

Computer problems .........

I have major computer problems, which will prevent me from posting to this blog for a while. Not sure how long it will take to get the machine up and running, then there will be a lot of software installing to deal with :(

I'm posting three quite different images from my archives, using my husbands' computer  (which does not have the necessary software to produce any more images, unfortunately)

First we have a train image, at Goatland Station, North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Here is an infrared landscape taken at Lyme Hall, using a converted Canon EOS 30D.

Finally, an abstract composition from The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port.

Hard work - for a girl!

Due to the lack of any photo opportunities this weekend, I have raided the archives for this one.

Here we have a young woman volunteer on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway coupling up - while a strong man watches! There is another female volunteer on this railway who I've seen progress from fireman to driver. No doubt she will feature at some point, when I have nothing new to post.

A very wet day .... sigh!

The weather this week has not been encouraging for photography, and if you take a look out of my kitchen window you will understand!

As there is no prospect of anything better tomorrow, I ventured out to a local green space. I have been meaning to get a shot of this beautifully carved owl for a long time, so that is now crossed off my list of 'local things to shoot'!! I wasn't very happy with the result, but having spent some time on it (and got wet!) I'm showing it anyway.
